Mercedes-Benz Kitchener-Waterloo is looking for a Product Specialist!

The Product Specialist is responsible for assisting customers in finding the inventory and products that best fit their needs. The Product Specialist provides a peer-to-peer customer-driven sales style that builds relationships, engages and motivates customers in an authentic, transparent experience. 


Job Duties:

  • Approaches, greets, and offers assistance or direction to any customer who enters the dealership showroom or lot. 
  • Builds relationships, engages and motivates customers in an authentic, transparent experience. 
  • Generates positive impressions during the shopping and buying experiences by serving customers in a friendly, professional, and prompt manner. 
  • Utilizes technology to create a streamlined and integrated sales method throughout the entire buying process. 
  • Offers test drives to all qualified prospects. Follows dealership procedure to obtain proper identification from customers prior to test drive. 
  • Assists customers in selecting a vehicle by asking questions and listening carefully to their responses. 
  • Explains fully product performance, application, and benefits to prospects. 
  • Provides customers with a thorough explanation of aftermarket products and extended warranties. 
  • Describes all optional equipment available for customer purchase. 
  • Reviews sales agreement with the customer to ensure vehicle, options and price are correct. 
  • Completes credit application with the customer and discusses payment terms. 
  • Completes paperwork necessary for vehicle sales and leases in a timely and efficient manner. 
  • Provides customers with a complete explanation of manufacturer and dealership service procedures and policies. 
  • Ensures collection of all finance and insurance fees. 
  • Explains payment/purchase options to customers. 
  • Knows and understands equity and values and can explain depreciation to the customer. 
  • Writes complete sales orders and processes paperwork in accordance with established dealership policies. 
  • Prepares sold vehicles for customer delivery prior to customer arrival. 
  • Delivers vehicles to customers, ensuring that the customer understands the vehicle’s operating features, warranty, and paperwork.
  • Introduces customers to Service Department personnel to emphasize the quality and efficiency of service repairs and maintenance available in the dealership’s Service Department. 
  • Follows up on all post-delivery items and special requests to be sure that all customer expectations are met. 
  • Develops individual sales goals and objectives. 
  • Continuously strives to improve customer satisfaction ratings by establishing and maintaining good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business. 
  • Maintains a prospect development system; prospects customers using the dealer customer database, telephone, visits, and referrals. 
  • Maintains complete knowledge of and complies with company and departmental policies, procedures, and standards. 
  • Maintains customer and company confidence by keeping information confidential and secure. 
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with team members and management in a team environment. 
  • Attends product and sales training courses as requested by the Manager. 
  • Keeps work area well-organized and clean and utilizes safe work habits 
  • Keeps abreast of new products, features, accessories, etc., and their benefits to customers. 
  • Keeps abreast of and complies with federal and provincial regulations that affect new and used car sales. 

Ideal Requirements 

  • OMVIC Certification. 
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years in a vehicle retail sales role. 
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record. 
  • Technologically proficient. Prior experience using business related applications or systems a plus. 
  • An inherent affinity towards automobiles. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal & written English) and customer service skills. 
  • Excellent sales skills and a commitment to sales systems and objectives. 
  • Ability to build long-lasting and trusting customer relationships. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills in order to resolve customer issues. 
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with simultaneous deadlines. 
  • Maintains complete knowledge of and complies with company and departmental policies, procedures and standards.  
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with team members and management in a team environment.
